IUSM is the largest medical school in the Kyrgyz Republic. Comprised of five basic science departments and 20 clinical departments, IUSM offers exceptional training for students wishing to pursue a medical degree. With the Class of 2020, the school implemented a new medical education curriculum that better reflects the modern health care environment and delivery models, preparing students to practice medicine in a team-based, interdisciplinary setting.
International University of Science and Medicine (IUSM) has been developed under the aegis of National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Program of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on Health Protection population and the development of the healthcare system and the Strategy for the Development of Education in the Kyrgyz Republic for Sustainable Development adopted by the UN Member States in 2015. International University of Science and Medicine (IUSM) was established in 2020 in the capital city Bishkek with the mission of being able to accent reform in Kyrgyz education system and initiate competitive atmosphere among regional universities to produce better healthcare education system. IUSM administration and faculty have channelled all their focus on the creation of a modern dynamic institution that can provide high quality training and has the potential to reform the medical education system of Kyrgyzstan. The 5-year duration English Language MD program at International University of Science and Medicine which is equivalent to MBBS in India is ranked among the best in the nation. The Academic faculty at IUSM is a blend of teachers, scientists, and physicians who are leading experts in their fields. They have the scope of incorporating novel teaching strategies in this budding institution.
The educational process at the International University of Science and Medicine combines an innovative approach and the latest technology in education. All lectures and practical classes are conducted in English with student teacher ratio of 1:10. Foreign citizens who are students of other medical universities have the right to be transferred to the IUSM, provided that the academic difference to be passed during the transfer is within the established limits.
The students gain knowledge and skills in disease prevention and improvement of public health; disease diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients; planning, organization and management of medical care for the local population etc. There is a practical centre, equipped with modern equipment and other relevant teaching aids, where students improve and master the necessary primary practical skills.
